All social networks, especially Facebook have negative impacts on people's social lives. People are so easily obsessed with checking it all the time to see if they have comments or likes or feedback under their statuses and such. Facebook was initially created for the purpose of linking up with friends who are no longer near enough to keep into contact with easily. It created a medium in which those friends could keep up with each other, keep in contact, and check to see how each one was developing and progressing. It was never initiated to begin teenager depressions and competitions between who as the most Facebook friends or most "likes" underneath their pictures. That is what it has become though. People are updating photos every other day it seems just to receive attention and "feedback." When it comes to teenagers, especially girls, they like the male attention and popularity as they begin their own web presence. However, these social network sites can be detrimental when people are attacking and harassing other users and even in some cases - cyber-bullying them. People should realize that Facebook was not created to start a popularity contest or beauty pageant, but just to keep in touch and view old friends and new one's progress. If they want to update pictures and profiles, go back to Myspace. People always want to blame Facebook for things that occur through it, but that was never Facebook's purpose as a social networking site.
