Reflective Writings.

Reflective writing over our human interest essay.

After my first draft was completed, I was pretty satisfied with the progress. I thought it was much better than my first essay’s first draft. I was able to take into consideration the comments from my first essay and apply them to this one so mistakes were not repeated. It was not in too much of a bad shape. I needed to be more descriptive and specific so that the readers could really feel and relate to the three men who interviewed. I wanted my essay to be a heart-felt piece. To do this, I used more of an emotion appeal. Peer review went well, too. I received good feedback from the two classmates that reviewed my paper. Of course, maybe a few typos and some grammatical errors, but after they pointed those minor errors out, the essay was on its way to being even more impressive. The topic was not to difficult being it remained the same from the beginning of the semester. The thesis statement was a bit difficult because the first sentence needed to automatically capture my audience. The research was easy - one video gave me all of my support. I feel best about the emotional appeal that I tied into my essay, but I probably need to improve the choice of words I used and have a more heightened vocabulary. I think this one is ten times better than my first essay; even though it was a little bit more difficult, I am way more confident in this one. Since I was not experienced with this sort of essay, I tried really hard to meet all the points and criteria to make this a human-interest essay. I am definitely confident with this essay and I believe that this essay will be more fascinating and interesting. Discussion question five did help me figure out exactly how I should approach this paper. I needed to have a captivating title, topic sentences, and theses.

Reflective writing about our first essay draft - the compare & contrast essay.

After my first draft, I felt relieved. More so that I was able to turn it in, but not for the fact that it was yet complete. It was in okay shape, there were many things that I could have done to tweak it and make it better. The changes that I made included omitting the first-person view point, building more credibility for people I introduce, and changing the basis of the argument from being a moral issue to a violation of civil rights. The professor, of course, influenced me most to make revision because she was able to locate the errors. The topic was semi-difficult. I wanted something where I could find many opinion and viewpoints on. The thesis was not too hard for me, maybe because it was not good enough. The research was not too difficult either because the wikis definitely gave me a leg up on the essay. I did not get a chance to read other wiki postings though, so I did not look at any other student's perspectives. However, I do believe that posting wikis helped me form my opinion on the argument because as I began posting more and more wikis, I realized what I was more for than against.

Reflective writing about our web presence. This was our very first reflective writing.

The only web presence I have is my Twitter and Facebook account. I created those web presences so that I could interact and join with my friends on these social networks. I do not have a blog that I post and update, just my social networks accounts. The dominant images are of me; representing that this is my page, my account, my space. I usually appeal to people around my age group, mainly males, most of whom I have no clue of their existence. Shared values that are evident in my web presence would possible be my independece. I talk about what I accomplish or plan to do or get done for the most part. I provide inspirational quotes a lot, so maybe that helps. People usually react to my web presence similar to the way they may respond to any others, just add me as a friend or follow me on Twitter. No real "interaction" though. In the future, I do not think I even want a web presence. I would not think of holding these accounts anymore.
